My Approach to Therapy
I take an integrative approach, combining evidence-based therapies to create a personalized experience that fits your unique needs and healing journey. I focus on what works best for you, whether that’s talk therapy, building a strong therapeutic relationship, using different therapeutic techniques, somatic practices, or providing practical tools and psycho-education to support your progress.
Individual Counseling
Focus Areas:
Managing Anxiety -
When anxiety takes over—whether it shows up as constant overthinking, panic, or everyday stress—we’ll work together to develop tools and strategies that help you feel more grounded, calm, and in control.
Improving Relationships -
If you're feeling unheard, misunderstood, or emotionally distant in your relationships, therapy can help you explore patterns, build stronger communication, and foster deeper, more meaningful connections.
Handling Life Changes -
Transitions like starting a new job, going through a breakup, or entering a new phase of life can bring up uncertainty and stress. I’ll help you make sense of these changes and move forward with clarity and purpose.
Working Through Trauma -
Past experiences can linger and impact your present. In our work together, we’ll gently process those memories at your pace, creating a path toward healing and resilience in a safe, supportive space.
Strengthening Self-Worth & Boundaries -
If you often put others first or doubt your own value, we’ll focus on helping you reconnect with your sense of worth and establish boundaries that support your emotional and mental well-being.
Types of Individual Therapy Offered:
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
IFS views our mind as made up of different "parts," each with its own strengths. When we experience trauma, these parts may take on extreme protective roles—such as fight, flight, freeze, or people-pleasing—to help us survive. The challenge is that these parts can stay stuck in the past, reacting as if the trauma is still happening. Through IFS, we work to help these parts heal, release old patterns, and find healthier ways to support you. No part of you is "bad"—they all have a purpose.
ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
ACT helps you focus on what matters most in life by teaching you to accept difficult thoughts and feelings rather than trying to avoid or fight them. It encourages you to be present in the moment, clarify your values, and take action toward the life you want, even when challenges arise. Through ACT, you’ll learn to build emotional flexibility, create a deeper sense of purpose, and move forward with greater resilience.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
EMDR Helps with PTSD, trauma, and more. Traumatic memories can get "stuck" in our minds and bodies, replaying over and over. This can make it hard to move forward, affecting relationships, work, and self-care. While part of you knows you’re safe, another part is still trapped in the past, causing inner conflict. EMDR helps your mind and body reconnect, allowing you to process past pain and feel more present and at peace. After therapy, many clients experience relief, able to remember painful events without emotional distress, and free up energy to focus on daily life and future goals. EMDR is especially useful when past experiences are affecting your present emotions or behaviors, and it can be a great option if you’ve reached a plateau with traditional talk therapy. Through guided eye movements, EMDR helps reprocess painful memories, making it easier to move forward.
Couples Therapy Specialties
I offer evidence-based approaches to help couples reconnect, communicate more effectively, and strengthen their bond. Whether you're navigating conflict, feeling emotionally distant, or working through a major life change, I’m here to support you in building a healthier, more fulfilling relationship—together.
Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT)
EFCT helps couples move beyond conflict by identifying the deeper emotional patterns that keep them stuck. It's all about strengthening the emotional bond—helping each partner feel safe, heard, and supported. This approach is especially helpful for couples feeling distant, overwhelmed by recurring arguments, or healing after a breach of trust.
Gottman Method Couples Therapy
The Gottman Method is a practical, research-based approach that helps couples strengthen their friendship, manage conflict, and build lasting intimacy. Using tools developed from decades of relationship studies, this method focuses on improving communication, increasing respect and empathy, and creating shared meaning. It’s especially helpful for couples who want clear strategies to deepen connection and handle challenges more effectively.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for Couples
ACT for Couples focuses on helping partners become more emotionally flexible and present with each other. Instead of avoiding uncomfortable feelings or getting caught in blame, ACT encourages acceptance, mindfulness, and values-based action. It’s a great fit for couples feeling stuck, stressed, or disconnected during life’s changes.
What We Can Work on Together as a Couple
Better Communication
Tired of talking in circles or feeling like you're not being heard? We’ll work on helping you both communicate more clearly and openly, so conversations feel less like battles and more like connection.
Trust & Infidelity
When trust has been broken—or even just shaken—it can feel like the ground beneath you has shifted. But healing is possible. Together, we’ll create space to work through the hurt, rebuild safety, and slowly reconnect in a way that feels honest, secure, and full of possibility for the future
Dealing with Conflict
Every couple argues—but if it’s turning toxic or things just get swept under the rug, it’s time for a new approach. I’ll help you both learn how to handle disagreements in a way that’s respectful, honest, and actually helpful.
Feeling Disconnected
If things feel more distant than they used to—less intimacy, less laughter, more going through the motions—we’ll explore what’s going on and find ways to reconnect emotionally and physically.
Navigating Life Changes Together
Big life shifts—moving in, having a baby, changing careers—can shake things up. Counseling can help you stay on the same page and support each other through the chaos, changes, and growth.
